Joana Pires
Founder/ Clinic Director /Senior Physiotherapist
Joana has over 14 years of experience as a Physiotherapist. She has worked with both elite and recreational athletes from the Portuguese Olympic Gymnastics Team to Martial Arts competitors, Ultra Marathon runners & others. As a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt herself, she understands the commitment it takes to prevent or recover from injuries.
Having worked in private healthcare for many years, in 2020 she decided to collaborate with Fightzone London, opening her own clinic to bring physiotherapy and sports rehabilitation to her local community in East London.
Over the years since Joana qualified, she has continued to further her education and has trained in the practice of dry needling, management of persistent pain, manual therapy, and is also a qualified APPI Clinical Pilates instructor including pre and post natal Pilates.
In the most recent years Joana has been involved in Ultra Running relay and solo races such as The Speed Project as a support crew and runner herself. These projects have created a bigger interest in running injuries and therefore she has been investing on this field by undertaking Mentorship programs with the best running and rehab coaches in the field.
She believes that a successful physio is the one who can thoroughly assess not only the injury itself but understand the person as a whole including their personal/ environmental conditions.
