Leanne Simmons

Leanne is a physiotherapist from North East London. She studied her undergraduate degree in Sport and Exercise Science at the University of Brighton before then returning to the same institution to complete her masters to qualify as a Physiotherapist.

Keen on continuing studying, she decided to do a Masters degree on Sports Physiotherapy last year, in 2024, which she is completing successfully.

Leanne has gained a lot of her experience on the NHS and in the private sector, working with sports physiotherapists and doctors. Through this, she has developed an interest in lower limb rehabilitation, implementing both manual techniques and exercise prescription to get her patients back to recreation in a safe and effective way. She has completed courses in acupuncture, dry needling and has also completed an imaging course at Hertfordshire University.

She worked as a physiotherapist at the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games, assisting the Athletics Team.

More recently, she has worked with ATP tennis physiotherapists in Australia improving her knowledge of the shoulder and upper limb complex. She also worked with a local football team and has experience in sports massage and taping.

Leanne is also passionate about practice-based education, facilitating and shaping the next generation of UK based physiotherapists, in her role working at the University of East London.

As a Londoner, Leanne is normally found whizzing around town on her bike, listening to podcast, or following her beloved Tottenham Hotspur FC. Since moving down under at the end of 2022, Leanne has taken to CrossFit and has rekindled her love of reading.
